“Ancient” – 29 x 21″ watercolor finished in November of 2017.
Often when I think that am finished with a painting I will put it away for a while.
Later, when I have the time to really sit with my painting, I will look at again it with fresh eyes.
This allows me to see if there are any changes that I would like to make before showing it.
“Ancient” sat for a number of number of years before it ended up getting a total rework from this painting:

Every year in December we celebrate the return of the suns light with the Winter Solstice.
It marks the shortest day of the year and beginning of more sunlight each day as the days grow longer.
“Suns Blessing” celebrates this!

The other night as the moon light danced on frosty ice crystals I said goodbye to the crazy California poppies that had decided to bloom. Inspired by the beauty of that moment I thought it would be fun to paint the essence of my experience.
“Poppy In Moonlight” is a watercolor on watercolor paper 21 x 29″

It has been hot and dry here and I have been missing the rains.
“Storm Break” is about the rains, swirling winds and sunshine as the storm passes.
Watercolor, charcoal and gesso on watercolor paper, 21 x 28″
The other day I saw a YouTube video of an artist painting with charcoal and watercolor that inspired me to try it.
The result of that exploration is my new painting, “Poppy Moon”, watercolor and charcoal on paper 21 x 29″.

Excited, happy and honored to have my painting, “Totem” chosen by juror Ruth Armitage for the Emerald Spring Exhibition 2017 – National Juried Show to be held at the Emerald Art Center in Springfield, Oregon during the month of May.
Growing up in Wisconsin I used to love to chase the fireflies at twilight on warm summer nights.
That memory was the inspiration for this watercolor “Fireflies” 21 x 29″ on wc paper.
( Went in and reworked this painting since the original posting – this is the finished painting as of July 26, 2017)
